Detailed description of Pagosa Springs Golf Club

Pagosa Springs Golf Club is a Resort, 27 hole golf facility located in Pagosa Springs, Colorado. The facility has three nines, The Ponderosa Nine, Meadows Nine and Pinon Nine. These nines can be paired in 3 different 18 hole combinations.

The Pinon and Meadows Nines were designed by Johnny Bulla. Pinon and Meadows opened for play in 1980. The Ponderosa Nine, designed by D. J DeVictor, opened 5 years later.

The course is surrounded by The San Juan Mountains with views that inspire from every hole. Each nine is unique and can challenge even the most avid golfers.

The Pinon Nine and Ponderosa Nine are mountain courses with ponderosa trees bordering the fairway. The Meadows Nine offers the golfer a links-style course with many lakes and magnificent views of the San Juan mountains of southwest Colorado.

Stayed at the Wyndham Resort in Pagosa Springs in June 2015 and played this course three times in two weeks (Wyndham offers a small discount on the cost of play for those staying there).

Each round was a very enjoyable experience - beautiful layout, friendly staff, and most times was paired with others who were invariably nice folks and fun to play with. Staff works with you to keep things moving, and having 27 holes helps a lot (two are designated for 18-hole play and one for 9-hole play). Ponderosa and Pinon nines are hilly, with some tough uphill par 4s, while the Meadows nine is flat and has numerous lakes and associated hazards to negotiate. Fairways were in pristine condition (NEVER had a bad lie, even in the first cut of rough), and the greens, though very tricky to read (and can be very fast at times), were in very good shape. A terrific challenge off the white tees for this 67-year old hacker, but I did manage to break 100 my last day (for the first time in a while).

This was my third vacation in Pagosa, and I will be back!!!! I JUST LOVE THIS PLACE.

Would travel: 10-20 Miles, Vacation Worthy
Bottom line: I would play again, Fair priced based on quality and competitive area pricing

We own a home in Pagosa and qualify for the local rate of $ 49. The walk up rate for visitors is around $ 80. A little high but a wonderful course in great playing condition. Cart paths and carts need some attention. Each of the three nines is different and offers different challenges.
